The Bank of Uganda, which is spearheading the Strategy for Financial Literacy in Uganda, is currently developing a training of trainers package, based on the Microfinance Opportunities and Freedom from Hunger’s Global Financial Education Program (GFEP) Curriculum, which was developed thanks to funding received by the Citi Foundation.
“Rather than starting from scratch, Bank of Uganda decided to build on the GFEP curriculum, as it is comprehensive, pedagogic and easily understandable,” said Lisa Peterlechner, Advisor, Financial System Development Programme at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
GIZ, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, is supporting the Bank of Uganda in spearheading the Strategy. The GFEP curriculum is now being adapted to the specific context of the Strategy and of the country. It will soon be available under www.simplifymoney.co.ug, a website created as one of the initiatives under the Strategy.
